Biography/History:
Author of first work was a student at Wittenberg of Ambrosius Rhodius, professor of mathematics at Wittenberg from 1608 (cited f. 12v, 71r); author of second work composed the work at the house of Paul Roeber, professor of theology at Wittenberg from 1627 (colophon, f. 168r) and author of a work on astrology published in Wittenberg in 1627.

Mathematical text in 4 sections on general principles of mathematics, arithmetic, geometry, and astronomy, followed by an astrological text based on spherical, geocentric astronomy, with tables from the work of Copernicus and Brahe.

Layout: Written in 28-32 long lines, on the inner half of each page, with the outer margin (the center of the page) marked by folding in the first work (f. i recto-82v) and ruled in red ink in the second work (f. 86r-168r); the outer half of the page is used for diagrams and notes.
Script: Written in humanistic cursive script, by multiple hands.
Decoration: Numerous small diagrams in Section 3 (Geometry, f. 56v-71r) and a few larger diagrams in Section 4 (Astronomy, f. 72r-73v, 80v) of the first work, in black and red ink; astrological diagram (f. 99r) and numerous tables in the second work; notes and underlining in red ink.
Binding: Modern quarter calf, paper boards, gilt spine.
Origin: Written in Wittenberg (first work, added note at end, f. 82v; second work, colophon, f. 168r), in 1629 (first work, dated throughout) and 1632 (second work, colophon, f. 168r).
