Summary:

J.B. Bordley's reports on his agricultural experiments to Timothy Pickering, the secretary of the Philadelphia Society for Promoting Agriculture, on the subjects of potato cultivation (1785); sowing wheat in clumps (1785); treading out wheat (1786); description of Bordley's cluster drill for wheat with drawings of the apparatus (1786); fattening hogs (1786); scarcity of timber (1787); malt and beer (1787); use of ammonia (1787); John Singleton's method of sowing wheat on clover (1787); and S.C.'s method of reaping wheat illustrated with a detailed drawing (1788).
Two of these items are addressed to Samuel Powel, president of the Society. At this time Bordley farmed on Wye Island on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay, he describes farming practices in Kent County and Talbot County, Maryland.
