Summary:
Text claiming to be part of the Padmapurāṇa, but which may well have circulated first as an independent text. Through legends associated with the ancient sage Śaunaka the text presents a discussion about how some can function in the present age which is the final and darkest age with the Hindu cosmology, the Kālī yuga. Such things as the removal of sin without knowledge of the Vedas is discussed and suggests that only through the worship of Viṣṇu and especially Kṛṣṇa, as well as through visiting pilgrimage sites, and the performance of penances (vratas) can one be led to salvation or release (mokṣa) from the cycle of life and death.
