Manuscript is used for contemplation and study and is a Hindu philosophical commentary (vyākhyā) and treatise on the Iśopaniṣad, a late Vedic work in verse employing Hindu mantras in order to explore the meaning and nature of the highest disembodied Lord, referred to as Īśvara.

Opening and closing folios have a border with red lines in which a series of Oṃ mantras are written (f. 1r, 17v).
