Summary:
Text outlining observances and rites for a festival in honor of the Hindu deity Śiva, celebrated on the fourteenth day of the dark half of the month Māgha (January-February). Various rites, including fasting, worship of Śiva, and gift giving, are typically observed during both the day and night. May be a recension of the Śivarātrimāhātmya found in the Koṭirudrasaṁhitā of the Śivapurāṇa (chapter 38). Presented as a discourse between the mythological sages (ṛṣis) and the epic bard called Sūta.
