Summary:
Text outlines the observances (vrata) and rites meant to be performed during the "extra month" (adhimāsa) referred to as Malamāsa, an intercalary month often associated with misfortune and considered inauspicious. Performing these rites and observances dedicated to the Hindu deity Viṣṇu is thought to alleviate such negative associations. Presented as a discussion between the legendary sage Markāṇḍeya and king Yuḍhiṣṭhira, it offers a mythological account of the rites.
