Summary:
Religious observance (vrata) dedicated to the worship (pūja) of the banana tree (kadalī) as well as other deities such as the elephant-headed, Hindu deity Gaṇeśa, the goddess Umā, and the deity Śiva, on special months of the year. Images (mūrtī) of the deities Umā, and Śiva are erected in front of the banana tree to help it grow. Observances are performed for the welfare of family members and for the prosperity of families.
