Summary:
Rite and observance (vrata) of ablution and prayer for removing sins (pāpa) for both men and women; dedicated to the praise and worship (pūjā) of a group of primordial sages (ṛṣi) as well as to dharma. Performed on the fifth day of the bright half of the month of Bhādrapada (August-September). Presented as a dialogue between the legendary king Yudhiṣṭhira and the Hindu deity Kṛṣṇa.
