Collation: Volume 1: Paper, i + 46 + i; 1¹⁸ 2²⁸; [1-46], modern foliation in pencil, lower right recto. Volume 2: Paper, i + 31; 1-10² 11⁶ 12⁶(-1, pastedown); [1-31] (21-31 blank), modern foliation in pencil, lower right recto.
Script: Later notes written in cursive script (Volume 1).
Decoration: Volume 1: approximately 160 line drawings in ink; Volume 2: 37 drawings in ink with elaborate infill and crosshatching, one with watercolor added (f. 16r).
Watermarks: Volume 1: WM in ornate square frame, 3 crescents of descending size in a horizontal row (similar to Crescents, nos. 138-139, in David Woodward, Catalogue of watermarks in Italian printed maps ca. 1540-1600) and a countermark of HB or IB surmounted by a trefoil (similar to Woodward, Letters, nos. 299-301); Volume 2: similar to Briquet Armoires 2231-2239, arms of the town of Schrobenhausen (Prague or Austria, mid- and late-16th century).
Binding: Volume 1: parchment over pasteboards with remnants of 2 pairs of green fabric ties, inscription No. 34 in ink on upper cover; Volume 2: half pigskin, blind-rolled and -stamped, over green parchment cut with double-fillet border, with remnants of 4 pairs of green fabric ties.
Origin: Volume 1: drawn in Germany or Italy in the second half of the 16th century with notes added later in Italy; Volume 2: drawn in Prague or Austria (based on watermark) in the second half of the 16th century.
