Summary:

Ledger of accounts of Lodovico Cassi for the years 1621-1625, containing very detailed receipts of the sale of various kinds of textile products (mostly wool, which came in many colors and prices) to a diverse range of customers. Often includes the name of the customer, the kind of product purchased and the amount received. The clientèle that bought cloth and wool from Cassi included members of some of the most important Florentine families, such as the Medici (including the Cardinal Alessandro(?) and Lorenzo Medici), the Farneschi, the Orlandini, the Montauti (ambassadors for the Medici), the Guadagni (ambassadors for the Medici), the Frescobaldi, the Albizzi, the Piccolomini, the Altoviti, the Peruzzi, the Capponi, the Ginori; the Ridolfi, and the Pandolfini; members of religious orders, including friars from the Trinità and from San Giuseppe, as well brothers of the Compagnia della Misericordia; a number of female customers, including a noblewoman referred to as arciduchessa; and numerous other customers simply identified as friends of Lodovico, or according to their professional roles (tailors, workmen, merchants, bakers and others).

Foliation: Paper, ii (modern paper) + 112 + ii (modern paper); modern foliation in pencil, upper right recto.
Layout: Written in 2 columns with vertical bounding lines in lead; the large central column with a brief description of the transaction, including the name of the counterparts involved in the transaction, and the smaller one on the right with the amount received. Sometimes long lines are also used.
Script: Written in a cursive script.
Watermark: Similar to Briquet, Soleil 13957 (Pisa, 1593), but with a smaller moon inside the sun.
Binding: Modern cloth.
Origin: Written in Florence between 1621 (f. 1r) and 1625 (f. 101v).
