The original from which this manuscript was copied is in the same collection as Ms. Coll. 700 Item 65; it is also the source of the monogram that appears on the verso of the title page of the copy with the caption "Monograma del P. Aguilar en este original y en varios manuscritos de su letra en el archivo parroquial de Tactic" (p. [1]).
A note by Berendt following the sermon explains that it was given while Señor Don Vicente Filisola, "Presidente de Guatemala," was engaged in war with San Salvador (p. 24).
