Script: Written in a cursive script.
Decoration: Pen and ink illustrations and diagrams throughout, many colored with orange wash. Includes depictions of cannons, ammunition, quadrants and other instruments, diagrams and tables.
Binding: German, 16th-century limp vellum dyed orange, with thong ties.
Origin: Written in northern Germany, late 16th century (possibly third quarter of 16th century).
Cover slightly warped. Pastedowns pulling away from covers, particularly front cover. Part of back cover missing, along with small portions of the last couple dozen blank folios. Back cover stained and damaged. Last several folios stained at outer edge.
