Cottunio was one of the Paduan Aristotelians who were opposed to Galileo and the new science. They were among the last adherents of Aristotelian science in Italian universities.

Commentary to Aristotle's Physics. Notes from lectures given by Giovanni Cottunio, transcribed by Domenico Bertoia. This commentary is of particular importance because of its connection to Cottunio and the Paduan Aristotelians, who were among the last opponents of Galileo and the new science in Italian universities.

Script: Written in a cursive script by what appears to be a single hand.
Binding: Contemporary pasteboard with a brown paper spine over pasteboard. The upper cover contains a contemporary pen-and-ink drawing depicting Aristotle, with the caption "Aristoteles perfici nequit."
Origin: Written in 1659 in Padua by Domenico Bertoia. Esposizioni della Fisica d'Aristotile manoscritte dal signor Domenico Bertoia in Padoa l'anno 1659 (note, f. i recto).
Loose leaf between f. 16-17 contains notes written in Bertoia's hand. Loose leaf between f. 36-37 contains notes both in Bertoia's hand and in a different, contemporary hand.
