This is a finding aid. It is a description of archival material held at the University of Pennsylvania: Kislak Center for Special Collections, Rare Books and Manuscripts. Overview and metadata sections

A small volume with decorative, stamped, leather covers comprised chiefly of culinary recipes written by and unnamed author in England in 1859. Recipes include beverages, cakes, desserts, fruits, marmalades, meat dishes, puddings, and souffles. Highlights include lemon and Madeira cakes; castle, Christmas, fig, marmalade, and Scotch puddings; fondue; snow souffle; curry; toffee; and wine biscuits. Napkin folding instructions are written on two leaves. There are instructions for knitting slippers. A few household recipes including chromography ink or dye, washing colored silk, and furniture polish are at the end of the volume. Some newspaper clippings are pasted in the volume. An 1859 calendar is pasted on the inside front cover.
