Overview and metadata sections

A leather bound volume with a metal clasp comprised of medicinal and veterinary recipes and prescriptions written by and unknown author in England circa 1859. The recipes are written on the first 34 pages of the volume. The remainder of the volume is blank. Medicinal recipes include remedies for bronchitis, burns, chilblains, cholera, coughs, colds, diarrhea, jaundice, and sciatica. Two items have been clipped from newspapers and pasted in the volume. One prescription is attributed to Sir William Gull. One prescription for cholera attributed to the London Journal was dated 1859. Veterinary prescriptions include remedies for ailments of cattle, dogs, horses, and sheep. Some veterinary formulas are attributed to George Brown and T. Windsor. There are some recipes for cordials. A few household recipes include waterproofing boots and wool clothing, and cleaning cloth. Front cover is detached and some leaves are loose. One leaf is laid in the volume.
