Abstract:

A volume comprising a catalog of a personal library compiled by an unnamed person circa 1894-1900.

A volume with marbled-edged paper, Library catalogue stamped in gold on the spine, and pre-printed columned leaves. The volume provides an inventory of a personal library compiled by an unknown person, probably from England in the late 19th century. There are over 150 titles on ten leaves. Spanning two leaves are eight columns with printed headings provided for the bibliographical description and location of the works in the library. A handwritten location at the top of the first two pages reads: Book case fixture no. 1 next entrance. The titles in the bookcase are arranged according to rows numbered one through five. The collection includes books regarding art, biographies, classics, culture, dictionaries, encyclopedias, fiction, history, and travel. There are several works in the library by Samuel Rutherford Crockett, Samuel Laing, and Charles Dickens. The title Diaries appears throughout the list. After the first ten leaves the remainder of the volume is blank.
