The most current edition of the OCLC PAIS International Journals List is linked below. It is a free list of all journals indexed and abstracted by PAIS since the mid 1970's. The list is alphabetized by title and updated semi-annually. It provides the ISSN and a link to the Web site of each journal, where available.

The created 2004 list contains 3,895 titles. For convenience, the list is divided into smaller sections. Click a link below to view or print a section of the list.

OCLC PAIS International Peer-Reviewed Journals List

Overview

Since January 2002, OCLC PAIS has identified peer-reviewed journals within its periodical authority file. The most recent list created in 2004 contains 649 titles.

PAIS defines 'peer-review' or 'refereed' as the role of experts or review boards in the field of expertise examining the journal articles before acceptance for publication. It is the process through which experts in the field of study assess the quality of articles that are submitted to a journal for publication.

PAIS relies upon the front matter of the journal in hand to determine that it is peer-reviewed and contacts publishers for verification.

OCLC PAIS International Electronic Journals List

Overview

In 1998, OCLC PAIS started indexing and abstracting electronic journals. PAIS defines e-journals as full text journals which are published on the Internet and do not have a print counterpart. They can be downloaded for free or via subscription. Since 1998, OCLC PAIS has identified 68 electronic journals within its periodical authority file. Of the 68 titles, 30 are peer-reviewed.
